Coverage   open all    close all
What is lifelong coverage? [ click here ]
Lifelong coverage is exactly what it sounds like. Once you have insured your pet with the Ontario SPCA Pet Insurance Program, they're covered for life. If your pet were to develop a condition that required ongoing treatment, they would be covered, year on year, for the rest of your pet’s life. All you need to do is renew your policy each year to maintain your lifelong coverage.
What is my coverage? [ click here ]
Your coverage is determined by you. We have five levels of coverage available to you. Each year after you renew, your coverage allowance is replenished to its original level. For example, if you have chosen $5,000 in annual coverage and over the course of a year you spend $3,200 of it, when you renew, your coverage goes back to the $5,000 amount, and it will do that every year upon your renewal.
What is covered? [ click here ]
The Ontario SPCA Pet Insurance Program offers coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of all accidents and illness as well as ongoing health and wellness treatments (with Unlimited Coverage option) for your pet*. Using your annual coverage allowance will allow you to maintain ongoing treatment for all medical conditions or emergencies. This coverage is for life – conditions won’t be excluded once you start claiming as long as you renew each year.
How much coverage will I have? [ click here ]
Your coverage amount depends on which level you have chosen. We have four levels for you to choose from, from $1,000 in annual coverage to Unlimited. Each one is comprehensive and allows for veterinary treatments and covers ALL accident and illnesses*.
There is no limit per condition, only an annual limit per year, regardless of the number of illnesses or accidents. When your coverage renews, the coverage amount replenished o the level you've chosen, so you have the ability to maintain ongoing treatment for your pet’s medical condition.
Am I covered for ongoing conditions? [ click here ]
You are covered for diagnosed, ongoing conditions to the full amount of your annual allowance. When you renew your policy, the allowance replenished and you start the year with the full amount. This will allow you to maintain veterinary treatments for ongoing conditions like diabetes or cancer.
What is my maximum amount for a medical condition?[ click here ]
There is no maximum amount you can claim for a medical condition. The only limit is the yearly coverage level you have chosen. For example, if you have chosen a coverage level of $10,000 per year, you have that amount to spend, each and every year, for life.
What about pre-existing conditions? [ click here ]
If your pet has a pre-existing medical condition*, we may have to exclude it under the plan you have selected. Exclusions can be either temporary or permanent and are treated on a case by case basis.
Will my pet have access to alternative therapies?[ click here ]
Alternative therapies are covered when directed by a veterinarian.
Is prescription food covered? [ click here ]

The deductible is the amount you must pay toward a claim before your insurance begins to pay. For example, if you have a $500 claim and your policy has a $100 deductible, you will pay $100 and your insurance will pay $400.
What is Co-Payment? [ click here ]
We will pay a percentage of each covered claim up to the Maximum Benefit Amount, depending on your level of coverage as stated on Your Document of Insurance. Your share of each covered claim will be the remaining percentage. This is referred to as your Co-payment. Your Co-payment is applied on each claim based upon the age of Your Pet at the time of claim.
